Real Estate Careers:  Getting Started

First Step

The first step is to explore this website in its entirety. You need to become informed about this career before you can make an intelligent decision. Our agenda for you is to HELP YOU MAKE A GOOD DECISION.

In order to do that, you need to be aware of what you are up against in this business. See "What it's Like" to get a feel for what this business is really all about. There are two parts to this business: 1) What the business is like; and 2) What you are like. In this website, I can give you good insight into what this business is like. However, only you can answer the second part of this exploration.

You must be willing to make an investment of both time and money to start up your own business. This website will give you an overview of what is involved in this area.

A Career in Real Estate is a very challenging profession in which there is the opportunity and requirement for major personal growth and development with a high income as the reward.

Second Step

The Second Step is a personal interview with myself. I am the recruiter and trainer for Coldwell Banker Premier. After you have gathered all the information about what is involved with a Career in Real Estate, then we need to meet and explore together if this profession is really for you.

At that time, you would have an opportunity to meet one of our Brokers.

We would take you on a tour of our office. So you would be able to see a live real estate office in action! This tour would explain how the office functions and how our technology and support staff is designed to support you as you learn how to get your own business up and running.

You would be given a packet of detailed information regarding how our office operates. This would include our policies and procedures as well as our commission schedule.

You would have an opportunity to review with me all your questions and concerns; and I would also have the opportunity to review and explore with you some detailed in depth issues that will help address whether or not this career is really for you.

Full-Time versus Part-Time

Our Sales Agents are all Full time. We feel our customers and clients deserve a full time sales professional. Our commitment to this standard makes our company stand out among the very few in St. Louis with such a high standard. That is part of the reason we have sold over $200,000,000 in houses this past year alone with only 120 professionals!

You Must Have a Real Estate License

A part of the second step at the end of your interview with Norm is to get signed up for real estate school. This business is regulated by the Missouri Real Estate Commission and they require that you go to school for 60 clock hours to become qualified to sit for your licensing exam. Once you complete that course, you can then take the test and become a licensed real estate agent. Our program is for candidates planning on getting a license. If you do not have a license now, that is alright…we will show you how to get it.

Success Night

Every Thursday evening at 6 PM we conduct a Seminar on A Career In Real Estate. You are invited to attend this free briefing if you would like to interact directly with us in this session. The Seminar lasts for an hour and a half. We will go into more details about this business AND you would have an opportunity to meet one of our new sales agents who has recently been trained and is actually selling. We promise to answer more questions than you actually would bring to this session. And feel free to bring your spouse if there are others in your life involved with this decision! It is a good informal time to help you clarify any issues with which you may be concerned. This seminar is held at our Coldwell Banker Premier Office located at 2203 South Big Bend in St. Louis, MO. It is just 4 blocks South of Hwy 40 on Big Bend. (Parking is in the rear). Call Norm at: 314-973-2838 if you wish to attend. Norm will reserve your seat and have a special packet of information available to you when you arrive.
